About Deborah

Deborah Burgess is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who works with a wide range of children, adolescents, and adults. After earning her undergraduate degree in Psychology in 1994, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida, she attended Nova Southeastern University and earned her Masters of Science Degree in 1997.

Deborah began providing clinical mental health services in 1994, as a Behavioral Specialist. She later developed and conducted mental health workshops for employees at Bon Secours – St. Joseph Hospital. She has also worked with the city of North Port, assisting them in forming an EAP for employees. This included providing individual assessments and counseling for couples and families.

Deborah is a member of The American Counseling Association, The Florida Counseling Association, and Florida Mental Health Counselors’ Association. She believes that good mental health is facilitated by releasing restrictive thinking and challenging detrimental mindsets. She encourages honesty without fear and will help you confront the negativity that holds you back from living the most fulfilling life possible.

Deborah has been in private practice since 1999 at Peace River Psychology Center. She has helped dozens of clients delineate their goals and uncover their true potential. Her mission is to help you release the burdens that have blocked you from living the life you truly want to live. It is a worthwhile journey to work with Deborah.
